On February 13th, 2026, during an election rally held by the TVK Party in Salem, Tamilnadu, a participant died due to a suspected heat stroke. The deceased, Suraaj (37) was a migrant worker from Maharashtra who had been living in Tamilnadu for the past 10 years. He had travelled to Salem to watch Actor Vijay’s speech. The police stated that Suraaj had pre-existing heart conditions, and the cause of death was heart failure. Many reports have proposed that heat stress and dehydration were the killers.
